HOMECOMING

This was meant to be my homecoming
After all those years away
Pulled back to California
By a simple twist of fate
I thought it would be heaven
Living footsteps from the sea
Where the sun is always shining
And the grass is always green

But I feel farther away than ever
Is there somewhere I belong forever?
Wanna find the old me I want everyone to know me
I want home

I’d be lying if I said the move
Was all a big mistake
Surely something good can come
Of all the chaos and the change.
But I still don’t feel at home here
Like the sands are always shifting
And the tide is always turning
And I wish I never left in the first place

And I feel farther away than ever
Is there somewhere I belong forever?
Wanna find the old me I want everyone to know me
I want home

Where’s the drugstore on the corner
And the old men in the park
Could’ve sworn there was a theatre
But now it’s torn apart
Whatever I expected just slipped through my fingers
And I feel like such a stranger here

I feel farther away than ever
Is there somewhere I belong forever?
Wanna find the old me I want everyone to know me
I want home
