Lyrics

ALL I WANT NOW
© Margaret MacDonald 2005

Wild roses climbing
Along the garden wall
Goes well with weeds and rust
Sun fades the photographs
And bakes the dusty road
Where we once played and laughed

I didn’t wait around
To see how you turned out
Got on a bus one day and
Rolled right out of town
There was nothing you could say
To turn me back around
But you’re all I want now

We sang Amazing Grace
Just like a gospel choir
I dressed up as a bride
We had a hiding place
Up in the old elm tree
We planned our great escape

My heart never left here,
Just went for the ride
And I really didn’t think I’d miss you
Look how long it took me just to realize
That I belong right back here with you

The old house needs a lick of paint
And a bit of window glass
And fresh new curtains too
You know I'm not a saint
And I don't have an alibi
For all those years away

I didn’t wait around
To see how you turned out
Got on a bus one day and
Rolled right out of town
There was nothing you could say
To turn me back around
But you’re all I want now
